Here's a bit of a throwback, this was recorded on August 28th 2015 in Toronto. The Salads were one of my favourite bands while i was in high school and then when my band Pangea got the chance to open for them a few times I got to be friends with them. Fast forward a few year and they needed someone to play drums and I got the call!! It was so amazing playing songs that loved and getting to actu...

Great job on this one my friend! LOVE the camera shots. Foot cam is great!
Auto tune the album even for the instruments. Nine is better and it ain’t great
We have the same top 4!
1. Enema 2. One more time 3. TOYPAJ 4. Dogs eating Dogs EP 5. Self titled 6. Dude ranch
Great job my friend
thanks!
Yes, all about that worship! Except for when you list all the gear. None of that should matter. None of it. One of the problems of modern Christianity. The absolute selfishness and worldliness of it all, it’s disgusting. Never mind the drum parts are all wrong and all over the place. But that doesn’t matter as much as it does with the self centered ridiculousness. Repent, turn to Him. It’ll help. A ton.
Hey there! thanks for the comment, but im gonna push back a little. i have been a christian since i was very young. i have been playing drums since i was around 13 years old. i have been part of a worship team since i was around 15 and am currently the music director at our church. this youtube channel is not solely dedicated to worship music. its about me as a drummer, i have videos of me with a secular band i was in on this channel. i posted what gear i use because thats what people are interested in when they come to a youtube channel about drumming. there is a lot of content about worship music because that is where i do the majority of my playing these days. disgusting is a pretty harsh word you used. i have been very blessed to afford high quality equipment and thats what im showing on my channel.
This has to be a troll (a Christian with the screen name "The Devil RT")...but if it's not, here's my response. I get what you're saying...but I think you misunderstood the purpose of him "listing all the gear". This isn't to show off. Drums are complicated, and getting them to sound a certain way is difficult, as there are an infinite number of variables involved. As a worship drummer myself, I really appreciate him sharing this information, because it helps me dial in my sound. He's helping other drummers immensely by sharing this information. Think about your comment in this way. On one hand, you're criticizing his performance for being "all wrong". I think is probably coming from a lack of performance experience; the goal isn't necessarily to exactly replicate the radio version of the song, even the original drummer will play songs differently depending on the situation (room size/acoustics, energy level, volume of and number of accompanists, etc). But then you go on to criticize him for sharing information that is literally required to replicate his sound. This makes no sense at all.
@@courtneyweidelichdrums Guys a troll for sure. I have a similar background to you drums wise. This was a great performance. Nailed the vibe and perfectly in time. The only criticism I have is I'm bummed some of your subtle snare work didn't get picked up by the trigger 😅. Thanks for sharing.
imo TOYPAJ One More Time Enema Untitled Dude Ranch Cheshire Cat Everything else
absolutely love this album. love that they gave us some classic sounding blink songs like Other Side, Bad News, and Dance With Me. The more experimental songs like Blink Wave and Childhood also knocked it out of the park. Ive been a fan of Blink for almost 10 years now and i never thought i would get to experience a new album with the core three. i hope we get to see them do more albums in the future but the blink fan in me is very happy with what we got
The intro to Terrified reminds me of the intro to Secret Crowds. The music these guys have made has changed my life as I'm sure it has for many others. My kids didn’t understand my excitement when it was announced that a new album was coming back in 2022.
As a fan of 80s music especially synthesizer I love blink wave!!!!
What's the BPM count you set??
127BPM
Anyone else get Blink chills at 39:52? Damn
wow one word beatiful
thanks!!!
turpentine is like neighborhoods with boxcar, is so fuckin good
damn when I wrote this you commented about 😂
DJ AM died
he did, but not in the plane crash.
Reminisce
Anthem part 3 is so good. Everything i wanted from a new blink song with Tom. Travis destroys the drums
Best album review that I watch. 👌
Can’t believe I’m gonna say this, but I wish Travis had reigned it in a bit. The end of Childhood for example, just the 8 bit fading out. But love the album.
Great Reaction. Just one thing - I would stop skipping a few seconds once and again in the middle of a song, as a viewer it just kicks you out of the moment. Keep it up! <3
thanks for the kind words, i tried to keep as much in as i could was just editing out f bombs lol. trying to keep my channel clean, only discovered theres a clean version of the album after i recorded. haha oops
@@courtneyweidelichdrums Okay makes sense, didn't think about that :D I think beeping it out would be be better then, just to keep the inner metronome happy. I think I will subscribe. Have a great Weekend!
Love the high quality production and studio! I grew up drumming in churches as well, though grew away from it over time. Looking forward to your videos and learning more about you.
This album is incredible!!! This is my blink 182 ranking: 1.Enema/Untitled 2.TOYPAY/One More Time 3.Dude Ranch/Neighborhoods/Dogs 4.Chesire Cat/they Came to conquer Uranus 5.Buddha
Definitely a few songs I like on the album. I just feel like it was overly produced and probably 3-4 too many tracks. Some songs don’t even sound like Tom and it’s weird. The album as a whole is better than I expected and decent mix of old blink sound and new blink
I think I agree. I mean, I fucking love the first song. But it is at times a bit like AI was asked to make a blink album.
@@stutoms4462AI? lol no...not even close. He's using alot of effects to make his voice sound pretty. It worked
@@isthatchrisk no I know they used vocal processing. My point is, it sounds a bit like an album AI would make if it was asked to make a blink album. That said, it is my favourite album I've heard this year.
Bro there is new bonus song, pls reaction 😛
i know! i have to make a quick add on video
God-Tier content. From a passionate bass player to a passionate drummer, you have earned my sub! Also, its clear that you're a fan of these guys and their other projects. Viva La Vida, One More Time!
thanks for the kind words!!
TAN RUCO Y ACTUAS COMO ADOLESCENTE, bioen pinche todo toto
This album is probably #5 of a top 5 for me. 1. Enema 2. Neighborhoods 3. Self Titled 4. Take off your pants and then this. If it had solid production (which I don’t think it does) it could probably be #4 😁
Neighborhoods is the most under rated album in the catalog by far.
@@thefives7ar agreed. It’s so great.
good content mate, perfect review, keep the good vibe
hey thanks! really appreciate it
hurt(interlude) and outro of childhood sound like i'm lost without you
04:47 You will listen to them and you will realize that Anthem Part 2 is the best and there is absolutely no other answer.
It is wild to see how many people like this album. It's not good. Stop coping.
care to elaborate a little?
So because you don’t like it you can’t grasp why others might actually like it? Sounds like you need to grow up to be fair 🤷♂️
i think everyone can have their opinion, i just wish he'd give a little more reason other than "its not good"@@Themaskplague
@@courtneyweidelichdrumsI will give a real take, I was just working and youtube doesn't always show notifications from people
@@courtneyweidelichdrums (1) The production on this album is horrid. The drums are super upfront, compressed, and the velocity of every hit is nearly equal. There is no dynamics between any of the percussion at all. The bass sounds okay for the most part when you can hear it but the guitar is buried in nearly every mix and almost used as like a layering technique to make the mix sound full rather than relying on Tom's iconic riffs to push the songs forward. Jerry Finn knew how to take Blink's strengths/weakness and maximize them to the fullest. From Enema to Self Titled the mixes were PERFECT. They had dynamics and each song had meaning and a place. (2) Drums. Travis' drum parts back in the day were ICONIC. Think of Anthem Pt. 2's verse, Everytime I Look For You, or Always' pre-chorus. He created "drum riffs" that played off of the simplicity that Mark and Tom did on the front end with their guitar parts, bass parts, and vocal melodies. (3) Guitar. I kind of addressed this already in the first section, but Tom has no true iconic riffs on this album. He does some "throwback"-esque things like the hammer on and pull off riff in Dance With Me, but its more fan service than anything. Think of Man Overboard, Reckless Abandoned, Dammit... those are amazing riffs that stick in your head and make you want to pick up a guitar. Name one riff on this album that you want to learn? Maybe Bad News? (4) Bass. Bass is honestly fine, I never have a problem with the bass on the albums - but its buried under the drums because the drums sound like they were mixed by a drummer (which they were). (5) Vocals. The vocals are mixed okay, but the new style that Tom and Mark are doing with their singing is not appealing. Back in the day they used to do this talk-sing style. Where they would sing each individual note, and there was not a ton of variation inside of the melody. Now they are "singing" and they are not "singers". Example: When We Were Young chorus, Tom literally takes the word "Young" and sings multiple notes downward like an actual singer. Point to me on any old record where they did that. Most of there old melodies were 1-2 note melodies that were always amazing. Even "where are you" in I Miss You, is all one note. Also, there are way to many harmonies that are layered with synths and just over take the mix and are not subtle at all. Not to mention the auto tune is so strong my god. (Edit: The constant Na Na Na's and Ole Ole Ole's - like wtf... this is a joke right?) (6) Songs. The songs are all mid range at best. There are maybe three bangers on the album if you want to call them that. Anthem Part 3, Terrified, and Bad News. Everything else can be thrown away, especially the new bonus tracks. If we go back to Enema, TOYPAJ, and Self-Titled every song on that album knew its place. The songs went together like a complete package and they were all coherent. Songs would flow into one another even; Adams Song into All the Small Things, Reckless Abandon to Everytime I Look For You, and Down to Fallen Interlude to Go... there was INTENTION there. This new album is a hodge podge of tracks that don't belong together. They could have addressed that and took the best 12 tracks and made a real album - this is like a greatest hits of new blink that no one wanted. (7) Live. Back in the day they used to play just the three of them without backing tracks and all this extra garbage. They did eventually add some backing tracks and play to a click a bit later in their career but it was still mostly just them. Now they are playing to HUGE backing tracks with guitar parts even playing. Sometimes you can see Tom not playing a main riff and he is playing rhythm... its so weird... Same with vocals and everything (8) The fans. This album is a pander to the fan base. Look at One More Time, it is a MID song with no epic ending making it a ballad like ST4TK or Adams Song. It's literally a song about remembering Blinks history and that's it. It sucks. And that is what this whole album is, its just nostalgia bait for a bunch of people who don't actually know better. They think because blink is back they can be a kid again, but that just isn't the case. The album is just whatever, but it has none of the hallmarks of what makes blink, blink other than the members. When I went to see them this year, after the show I wandered around and asked probably 20-30 people why they were there and what their favorite songs were. They all said, because blink is their fav band and their fav song was "Rock Show" or "All the Small Things". These are not real fans, they are just popular culture slop enjoyers who don't know anything about anything. The people who think this album is good don't know a damn thing about blink 182 and it shows. TOYPAJ is the best record it is the epitome of blink. I was never expecting the new record to be amazing but I was hoping for it to be "good" and it isn't. That's fine, but guys... stop pretending it is. You are excited Tom is back, I get it... give it a few months and you'll be over it.
I Agree with you that this is a great album and I would probably also place it in 3rd place after Enema and Take off your pants and Jacket. I´m not a fan of edging at all and would probably also skip the last song. Every else is awesome.
was right with you until you said skip the last song. looooove Childhood
I liked edging
You're the first one that I've seen praising the production of the album. I stand by my opinion that the Loud Production complements the project. Sooo many fans and haters have been saying that the production of this album is bad.
I've been a recording engineer for over 20 years now. this album moves air, but it has really intimate moments too. the production and mix is top notch. anyone that says otherwise probably doesnt really know what theyre talking about. its not just that its loud, its the punch in the kick drum and snare drum. guitars are huuuuge sounding, the bass has distortion on it and really glues everything together. then the vocals just soar above all of that. its a really well produced album.
@@courtneyweidelichdrums My thoughts exactly. I felt like the production gives a lot of Oomph factor to the project. I have no idea about audio production but listening to this was truly an experience. I have defended it on Reddit to because they wanted the old blink production by Jerry Finn and forgot that the band had a lot of time in the oven for 20 years. Thus, giving a different, more personal album experience.
the problem with wanting it "like jerry finn" is he was an absolute legend and no one can replicate what he did. so unfortunately we just cant go back to that, luckily whoever mixed and mastered this thing absolutely knew what they were doing because its really top notch.
@@courtneyweidelichdrums That guy was Travis Barker. He dedicated this project to Jerry Finn. May he rest in peace. 🕊
Travis produced the album but he didnt do the mix or master
What a revival. From Opening to See you. This album is an instant classic. 🔥
I fully agree, top 3 tier for sure. Dude Ranch, One More Time..., and Neighborhoods are my 3
whoa, really interesting top 3!!
Oddly enough those are probably my too three as well.
Grown man listening to a clean version?? Come on brahhh. Who gives a fuckkkk!! Good video just twisting ur nips
you should be put in prison for cutting right before the giant "NO ONE GAVE A FUCK THAT YOU DIED" from anthem pt 3 lol
i know, i love that part but im trying to keep my channel clean. wasn't easy with this album. thanks for watching!
I agree, lock this dude up and throw away the key. I can't possibly finish this video if it has cuts like that. Keep making videos for kids, I'm sure they love your content.
bad news new favorite song
for me its Anthem pt3 and Blink Wave
10/10 for me!! On constant repeat This is their best work… PERIOD This is not only filled with emotion and truth and feelings, but it’s 3 brothers, appreciating each other, what they have, and what they are which is a true pop punk powerhouse that is Blink 182. I’m so thankful they got back together, this is just EPICNESS!! 🤘🏻🔥🤘🏻🔥
I agree
I 1000% agree…a masterpiece in my humble opinion 🖤
Absolutely agree. It honestly feels almost blasphemous to say but it just is. I listen to every other Mark and Tom album this week and this just is it. Take Off My Pants is a super close second for me.
This album ROCKS. Feels like I'm growing up with them. My top 5 albums ranking: 5.Tied for 5th Dude Ranch/ Neighbourhoods 4. One More Time 3. Enema 2. self titled 1. TOYPAJ
interesting list! I love that there is so much debate in the rankings of the albums, shows that people have different opinions and i think thats awesome
if this is isn’t your first listen why the fake reaction? “oh okay, yeah..“ it’s so comes off so forced
I guess after hearing brand new songs only a couple times i didnt remember every single note/part of 17 new songs. thanks for watching!
valid! I've listened at least a dozen or so times by now and I'm still hearing new things. Good review man.@@courtneyweidelichdrums

agree!! loving this album more and more
The lyric sheet/videos are is off Aaron Rubin said it’s “We’ll go, terrified”. Also stuff like in fell in love the background vocal is “When I look back” not whatever it says lol.
100% agreed! The haters are a bunch of young zoomers that have no idea what TOYPAJ and untitled meant to the middle school soul.
I remember the day Enema came out listening to it with my friends in high school, man im old.

This album is right up there after untitled album NINE and neighborhoods was super awful
i have it Enema/TOYPAJ/One More Time/Untitled. i wouldn't say the 2 albums with Matt were awful, just not as good as when tom is there
Neighbourhoods is a fine album tbh. Ghost On The Dancefloor is great
i cant believe my voice made it in a video, this is so cool
